APPOINT AN INDEPENDENT COMMISSION OF INQUIRY INTO THE SHECHADE CASE NOW! We, the undersigned, out of a deep concern for the moral image of the State of Israel, request that the Government of Israel respond affirmatively to the recommendation of the Israeli Supreme Court justices to set up a commission of inquiry, which is independent from the IDF and the General Security Service (Shin-Bet). The commission of inquiry must have a mandate to investigate, without bias, how a one-ton bomb was dropped on a densely populated neighbourhood of Gaza, whilst its residents were sleeping. The awful result of the bombing: fifteen innocent human beings killed, including eight children, and around 150 injured, can not be adequately addressed by a military debriefing. It is unacceptable that all those involved in the planning, authorization and execution of the bombing, can avoid taking responsibility for the terrible tragedy, which they inflicted on these undefended people.
